Håfa Iyo-ta, Håfa Guinahå-ta…

It is just a little over 100 days until Guam hosts the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts or FESTPAC. In some ways the island’s cultural community and government agencies have been preparing, but there is still so much left to do. For this year’s Inacha’igen Fino’ CHamoru or Chamorro Language Competition we are using in one of our categories the official theme song for FESTPAC, written by Peter Onedera. The song is meant to build off of the theme for the event ““Håfa Iyo-ta, Håfa Guinahå-ta, Håfa Ta Påtte, Dinanña’ Sunidu Siha Giya Pasifiku.” I am hoping that this song starts to be promoted and publicized to help build more public awareness and support for this massive undertaking. In doing my part in building consciousness, I thought I’d share the lyrics for the songs in this post:
